Water shortage: Water, water everywhere, and not a drop to drink

Years ago a geologist left a major oil company for a State of Florida job. He said the future was in water.
It is amazing how much water is in fact being pumped, treated ,distilled and bottled today. There are untold billions of gallons on store shelves and in warehouses. The question begs. At what cost?
What are most bottles made of ? Answer - Plastic.
What are plastics made of ? Answer- oil.

Does water heat or cool the earth ? Answer not sure , but probably cools.
How much energy does pumping, mixing , bottling, transporting and refrigerating beverages?
Not sure? A bunch maybe? A huge amount maybe?
The earth is supposed to be warming at an alarming rate. If all the captive water was released into the environment what would happen?
Exxon- Mobile is making record profits but their net profit is only 9% of gross revenues. What are the gross profits of the major bottling companies? As a percent to shares , much higher?
Our congress is trying to get a grip on the energy crisis and global warming. The natural resource of oil by all estimates, is huge in the continental United States and its coastal waters. Yet it is bad for the environment to exact it and use it. The American people are told they are wasteful. They want their cars and cheap fuel. They've had them both for years. We are going through seismic changes. But is part of the answer right under our noses? Does congress have the nerve to pass legislation to tell Coke and Pepsi and other bottlers to cut back on their production? To offer coupons like they have for digital TV boxes for people to buy basic filtration systems to use tap water?
It is truly amazing that the EPA hasn't stepped in and done their job to see that a so called clean industry is a huge energy and environmental waste.
And what about BIG Sugar? What are many beverages loaded with? The bio fuel ethanol in Brazil is made from sugar cane, not corn. Any one notice what the price of food and corn has been doing lately?
If there was more money in producing fuel fom sugar cane, Big Sugar would switch in a heartbeat.
There is also research of using water though electrolysis to enhance fuel mileage. Water to drink or fuel in your tank?
Gallons of bottled water start at 70 cents in major grocers nation wide . That with the price of handling it will rise along with other groceries.
Oh, about that geologist. It was actually 23 years ago. He had seismic reports of 100's of sites that had less than a million barrels at each site. The price of oil needed to be alot higher for it to be worthwhile to drill for it , by big oil standards. Wild catting? Forget it ,the environmentalists don't trust the safety records of the major oil companies much less start ups.
Isn't the price high enough now?
That geologist is still in water . It must be the future.
