New Age: Thought process or religion?

New Age is NEW. More than that, New Age frightens us because it signals the emergence of a new religion which will devour the old religions. Let us hope that we can evolve this time without the sort of death and destruction that accompanied the rise of Christianity in the Dark Ages.

New Age, or whatever you want to call this emerging new religion, will devour the myths of the established religions. That's what happens. It happened when the Romans came to power and "borrowed" the gods of the Greeks. It happened when patriarchies of the old world took over the matriarchies.

Will the established religions of today completely die out? Probably not. But their power will diminish.

Is this heresy, what I am saying? Sure, of course. But...a heretic today may be a prophet tomorrow. Or not. I'll say this: The core of New Age is extremely powerful and not to be underestimated. And it is dangerous, dangerous to the established religions because it will devour them. New Age does this already, does it not? New Age includes Christian mysticism. Very important as part of New Age doctrine, a doctrine that is non-dogmatic and chaotic, a mulligan stew of ideologies, theologies, concepts, and spiritual and quasi-spiritual studies.

Sure, you can pshaw New Age. (Well, you probably wouldn't literally pshaw it, but, you get my drift.) You can see whatever you want to see. If you look at New Age with innocence and curiosity, you'll find within it powerful seeds that will influence and guide future cultures. New Age is not a passing fad. New Age is the emergence of a powerful spiritual movement for which we may have yet no name but New Age.
