THE APPLE TREE

I'll plant for thee, a lilac tree.

So all your days you'll think of me.

I'll plant for thee, an apple tree

So all your days you'll feast from me.

I'll dig you roots, with my bare hands.

So all your days you'll be part of this land.

I'll dig the spot, to bury thee.

So all your days you'll spend with me, all of your eternity.

In a life from days gone by
I gave to you before you died
A feather from an Eagle free
to help you let your spirit flee.
This feather I wrapped in a band of gold
as not to flutter from your soul.
If I could find this feather, here in this life today.
I'll know the secret of thy soul.
Then be spared, another day from searching further, for that day we'll be together.
Living out a life that was meant to be, shared by only you and me.

There's no need of me pretending,
I need this story to have an ending.
Or I'll be back again,to search this land on end,
for the one who belonged to me when I planted that Apple Tree....
