Can a long distance relationship really work? Who are you trying to kid? It takes a lot of effort for an everyday run of the meal relationship; (which includes family, friends co-workers) now put two thousand miles between you and your significant other and see how conected you are on an emotional as well as a physical level. If it seems like cruel and unusual punishment, then you can really understand where I'm going with this.

Lovers often move away for what ever reason and yet swear enernal love. In reality not many couples will survive physical separation. It takes too much time planning and yes funds to commit to short term gatherings. Not to mention the emotional tole. It is far easier just to establish new relationships, then to harber a dying flame for a lover who is simply not available. Some people are fine with it, but most become too starved for affection that they can't bear the loneliness. We are genetically programmed to pair up, unfortunately pairing up doesn't equate to manogamy.

There is a select group of individuals who actually prefer miles between them and their partners. In truth those who seek distance relationships are really looking for safe encounters, something that doesn't involve commitment or god fore bid emotional ties.

Many will argue with all those new technological gadgets, we are able to be closer then ever. But here's the deal, those devises we rely on so much can actually have the opposite affect. Take phone for instance, yes you can get a hold of that special someone 24/7, but only if that person allows you access. Anyone who has call display will tell you about a time when he/she decided to just not pick up or even bother to answer in fear of confrontation. And what about text messaging, ever heard of the text message break up? I'm sorry but the best way to communicate is face to face.

Human beings crave affection and yes that includes the whole art of Touch. In fact, studies have shown that an estimate of 70% of our thoughts are expressed non verbally. It's those subtle cues that can tell so much about how a person is feeling or hiding. Without them we have to realy on voice or a grainy web cam interview that is never really quite so personal or humain. People need to be able to share on all levels, to feel a complete level of understanding. Call me old fashioned but there is nothing like a up close, in your face relationship.
