There is no one way to write a mission statement but we must realize first of all what a mission is. A mission is not a goal in that goals are measurable and usually are time limited. We satisfy goals and set new and more challenging ones. A goal represent our destination bit the mission our journey.

A mission represents our meaning and we use it as a compass and our conscience. We can always check ouir mission without then need for tangible measurement. Example: My mission is two fold: To make a difference in the lives of others and to bw a whole and spiritual person who is one with the Universe. Without any control, my writing thus essay satisfies the aspect of making a difference. If my words changes the actions of just one person, this I have been successful.Note: when our mission involves other people, our control is limited. I control the second part of my mission in that I can control my behavior that enables me to be spiritual.

A mission statement is like the opening of a business presentation: it contains desired outcomes. It starts with what we want in the end. Here are five suggestions on how to write a mission statement:

1) Ask a friend to deliver your eulogy upon death. What do you envision this person saying to the mourners about how you led an exemplary life? What you want this person to say represents your mission statment.

2) If you had but one word on your gravestone , what would that word be? My word is inspiration as I must have been inspiring to have made a difference. From another perspective, a gravestone gives the year of birth and death. What will you do with the dash?

3) You are a well known, respected and likable celebrity. I am a writer you hire to write your biography to be sold in bookstores nationally. What do you people to be reading about your character and achievements?

4) A doctor has told you that you have contacted a mysterions illness that will dehabilitate you physically but it will not begin for another two years. With two years of excellent health, how are you going to spend your time?

5) If your learning pattern is linear, list ten of your most important values and then prioritze them in order of importance. At this point , you may have the insight now to write a mission statement. An alternative is to choose a word acronym like SUCCESS and choose a trait associated that is of critical importance to you.

Please remember goals that your goals represent what you are going to do your mission which is the why. The practical element is now putting in your daily plan and making it work. Also, satifying a goal without a missiom is the efficiency of doing things right. A goal with your mission is effective in that it is doing the right things!
