Employment: Fun jobs

During my life I had and continue to work at jobs that I consider to be a whole lot of fun. A good deal of that fun is derived from me knowing that I am supporting myself with an income and receiving the personal satisfaction of being proud of myself for living as long as I have, while making a positive contribution to the well being of my former employers and those who seek to learn the wisdom that I gathered. That is a long sentence but I lived, so far, an equally long life filled with the same joys and sorrows that other people my age have experienced during their lives.

We all have our ups and downs but I can truthfully say that I am most certainly high on life and my basic belief that there is some good in everyone. For me, that good and healthy way of life is one that excludes the use of illegal, addictive, and deadly drugs. As a matter of fact, I have always been loyal and true to each of my loved ones and the people who I work for and have worked for, without exception. That is, when it was clear to me that I was just not being used for their personal gain and well being at my expense.

For those of you who want a blow by blow description of what I consider to be a fun job, well, that is not my true purpose here. Rather, it is to offer suggestions that will inspire your own thinking on what you would like to do in the way of enjoyable work. Each of us is somehow different. As such, what might be fun for me might be Hell on Earth for some other person.

Be that as it may, a fun job for me is one that teaches me something that I did not know but desire to learn. I like to make things but without the knowledge of how to make whatever it is that interests me it is important to have some hands on experience. I can now make and finish fine furniture that most people really like, some of which is proudly on display within my own home.

My interest in writing has caused me to write and copyright a novel. I wrote and continue to write and publish internet stories for the reading pleasure of the Public. Since I am now self-employed, I can do no less for myself.

Music is another of my loves. I have a huge collection of most kinds of music and I decided to share some of my music collection with those people who also enjoy hearing some kind of music. As such, I now can make custom CDs for people, using my own collection or simply playing their records, cassette tapes and/or reel to reel tapes right into my computer and then create a CD of the music that those customers of mine desire most.

The point here is that when a job is nothing more than a necessity and you derive nothing more than a paycheck something is clearly wrong somewhere. You might lack the skill or the education to do what makes you happy. If so, you can go to school and learn more about better ways to earn a living or just quite the job you have and work another go no where kind of job. An educated mind is far better than a strong body. Since we are all mortal and get old and die, sooner or later that strong body will not be as strong as it once was.

Working smart is far better than working hard. You see, it is the smart worker who can continue to earn money until the day that he or she dies. Above all, you have to decide what is right for you. How do you earn a living, as opposed to what you would like to do to earn a living?
