The best Dad in the world
I can honestly say
Always there for me
In so many ways
Life lessons you taught me
Like right from wrong
Are tools I use
As I go along
You showed me salvation
Taught me to pray
I still do it now
To this very day
Confidence, you gave me
By letting me try
To do it alone
As you stood by
"I did it daddy"
I said with a smile
You knew I could
All the while
You stood by me
When times were tough
Stepped in to help
When I had enough
I wrote you a poem
For father's day
Said how I loved you
And counted the ways
I thanked you openly
For all that you've done
Went as far as to say
There was more to come
I didn't know then
You would soon leave
This world of ours
And me to grieve
I was lost for a while
Was going astray
Then I remembered
You taught me to pray
I prayed to God
And asked him please
To bring you back
I was on my knees
God did answer me
This He did tell
"Your dad did his job
And he did it well"
God took my dad home
For a job well done
It was time to reward
His beloved son

My Dad was born in the great depression.
He spent all his childhood with no possessions.

Poetry: My Dad
I Saw You Today. In Memory of My Dad
I saw you at the mountain lake,
You were walking along the shore.
Taking
Comforting always, smiling bright,
Killing darkness, igniting light,
Quietly leading, gentle touch,
Expecting little, giving
by Deeders
I can still remember the day
though it was so long ago
When he walked out and left
for reasons I did not know
Though he was
