I consider myself a very lucky person, because I have the best father anyone could ever ask for. My father is my hero, but best of all he is my best friend. I know I can turn to him for anything, which I am extremely grateful for.
What I love the most about my dad is the fact that I can talk to him about absolutely anything and everything. If I am ever in trouble or in a jam, he is there for me no matter what, good or bad, he is always there for me.
I guess you could say that I was a difficult child growing up. It was hard for people to get through to me; I didn't like discipline or authority figures. The one person that could always get through to me and make me understand things was my father, because he knew how to talk to me. He never judged me; he just pointed me in the right direction. He talked to me like a friend, made me feel like an equal. He could always find a way to make me understand things.
I have so many memories of all the good times we have had together, all the places we have gone, all the things we have done together. I would not give those memories up for anything in the world those are the best times of my life.
I remember back when I was about three years old going to the Boston Garden to see the Bruins hockey games, it was kind of a tradition. I used to love going to the hockey games with my father. I had so much fun, we would ride on the orange-line train into Boston and we would get off at North Station. I got to meet all the Bruins players like Bobby Orr, Cam Neely, Ray Bourke, and Adam Oates. I still go to hockey games, but for some reason it seemed so much better back then.
Another one of my favorite memories that I have with my dad is when we would go to Mt. Washington. We would hike up to the top to admire the view. Then we would stop and camp out in the woods for the night. I really loved doing stuff like that. It was a lot of fun.
The best vacation I ever had was when my father took me to Old San Juan, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas. I got to see El Morro, in Old San Juan. This place was very cool. It was a place that was used to stop enemies on boats from entering the city. It was a great educational experience for me. St. Thomas, I never saw a place as beautiful as that.
I am thankful that my father and I are so close and just knowing that I have my father makes me feel like everything will be alright no matter what. Through thick and thin he's always with me.
This Father's Day, I wanted to express to him how much he means to me and how much I love him. I appreciate all that he has taught me and everything he has done for me. My father is my hero. Thanks dad.
