The power of prayer to heal

by Jim Ross

Created on: June 15, 2008

I never knew him personally; I'd only read of his life and work yet, I had been healed by him, and from the other side, too!

I remember that night well. I was waiting for surgery at a nearby hospital, and as it was my first time under the surgeon's knife, the deadline seemed to be coming faster; in fact, it was within two days and, naturally, I was anxious and nervous to say the least.

I had always been interested in the spiritual side of life and, that night I had picked up and read completely a book by Harry Edwards, on spiritual healing. This had come about due to being interested, and by visiting the local church for open circle and healing nights, where I watched, listened, and learned about another kind of love the love of giving.

After putting his book down, I decided to meditate and ask for healing. Within minutes, whilst sitting in the armchair with my hands resting on its arms palms up, both my hands became super hot. This feeling of heat was my first experience at receiving such wonderful help. It lasted the entire time of meditation, about 20 minutes, or so. Instinctively, I knew who had given me healing, it was a distinct feeling. After the surgery, I had no pain or discomfort whatsoever, despite the fact that my hand was all bandaged and stitched-up. I'd had surgery for claw hand, or Dupuytren's Contracture, a disease now known to be hereditary.

That experience, if you like, was my initiation into the world of healing, and I've now been practising it, as a self-taught healer, for some thirty-odd years!

If anyone was to say that healing by prayer does not work I'd be the first to deny it. Most of my healing work is carried out through prayer, with the odd hands on work being carried out only occasionally. I'd like to share with you some of my experiences, and of the stories I've been told about people and animals I've sent out healing and prayers for.

My last healing and prayer session was only a few days ago, but, it was the latter result that became outstanding, as it has been in so many cases. I gave absent healing and prayer for Bart. Bart was an elderly cat, and his owner phoned his mum to ask if she would take him to the PDSA for treatment. He stated, she wouldn't recognise him as he had stopped eating and drinking, and had become very lethargic. He went on to say, that he'd lost so much weight he was basically all fur and bones. When his mum told me the story I immediately feared the worst for this lovely little fur ball, so I set out, without
