Poetry: Revenge

A Queen's Revenge

Do you still hate me, queen who Henri wed?
Lying with him in your eternal bed,
His bones forever now trapped by your side,
What you desired as a very young bride.
Do you still hate me now that we are dead?

Barren years with no child filled you with dread,
I made sure he went to your bed instead,
In time, your need for heirs was satisfied,
Do you still hate me?

Holding onto life by a slender thread,
I nursed you in illness though others fled,
I helped you but your hate would not subside,
Now you lie by him; I am cast aside,
Do you still hate me?
