Haunting from Afar
Hiding in the shadows
Haunting from afar
You'll never know I'm watching
That I'm wishing on a star
That somehow I could change for you
Be the way you want me to
Join you in your life of light
When all I know to do is fight
Gave up on this world long ago
I thought it had forsaken me
But you gave me a bright new hope
Of how things are supposed to be
You gave me hope
You gave me light
But it was blinding
Far too bright
And scared of things I'd never known
I slunk back to my hole to hide
To watch my light from far away
Where the brightness would not blind
You gave me hope for a new day
But I could not adapt to it
The love that I had never known...
That life and I just wouldn't fit
So all that I can do is watch
In sorrows sad and strange
And wish that I could be with you
But I can never change

A slowly creaking
Unopened mail
not a metaphor
