I do not see using a ghostwriter for any reason as being dishonest. As long as the person(s) who hired the ghostwriter is dictating the information to be written, there is no dishonesty about it. Some people are good at speaking and others are best at putting those words down on paper.

I have been ghost writing for quite a few years and I have done everything from books to speeches for professors who are giving speeches at a university. Those who hire me dictate every detail I type and not a word out of line is that of my own. Those who hired me were better at speaking the words aloud and not capable of typing them into sentence form and I was better at taking dictation and putting them into sentence form on paper for them.

Academic ghostwriters are hired more often than they are known. Although countless education courses in colleges and universities teach its students the right and wrong ways of writing, some if not most come out of that course or college still having trouble being able to put their own words of speaking into sentence form on paper. That alone, is where a ghostwriter comes into play. Ghostwriters take their educational skills more into the writing aspects and less on the speech form.

The only way dishonesty would play a part in hiring a ghostwriter for academic purposes is if no dictation was given and the ghostwriter was asked to incorporate the entire speech or what have you, into his or her own words. In this case, the speaker should not take full credit for the written words. If they do take full credit for something they did not at the least dictate, then that is a form of dishonesty.

In all the years I have been a ghostwriter, I have yet, been hired in a dishonest situation. And if I were to ever be requested to do such a job, I would turn it down. Any form of hiring a ghostwriter for his or her own personal gain in an education environment such as a school, is cheating the educational system in my opinion, let alone being dishonest. I could not work under such circumstances and have it on my conscience knowing I was assisting someone slip through the cracks of society.

Other than that, ghostwriters who are hired in a honest situation, such as for an author of books, is a great way for those who are unable to put their ideas into word form to do so without the guilty feelings and the ghostwriter in question also performs their duties as profession as possible.

Yes, I absolutely believe that using an academic ghost writer - or, more accurately, a professional essay writer - is dishonest.

Academic 'ghost-writing' is an oxymoron. You have a strong contradiction of terms here. Academic is a title gained by work
