The traditional martini is a cocktail made with gin and dry white vermouth, although substituting vodka for gin is now common. Unlike traditional martinis, which are shaken or stirred, frozen fresh martinis are in vogue. They are contemporary and stylish with a base of vodka and fresh fruit pulp.
While the emphasis is on fruit flavors, the visual impact plays an important role.
Experimenting with fruit flavors gives you an opportunity to present an array of colorful martinis. Extremely popular among the youth, these martinis are inclined towards sweeter and fruity aromas. It is an art to get the right consistency of this martini which somewhere between a slush an a sorbet.
You just need a high-speed tabletop blender and a martini glass, and you can make it at home. Try it with homemade fresh fruit pulp or you can pick up fruit purees from the market, which are readily available. Fruit syrups, squashes and crushed should not be used in place of fruit purees.
Muskmelon Martini
Ingredients
250 ml chilled muskmelon pulp
60 ml chilled vodka
15 ml sugar syrup
10 ice cubes
Method
1. Put everything together included the ice cubes in a high-speed blender.
2. Scoop out the chilled, blended decoction into a pre-chilled martini glass and garnish with a muskmelon triangle.
Pineapple Martini
Ingredients
200 g chilled pineapple dices
60 ml chilled vodka
15 ml fresh lime juice
10 ml sugar syrup
10 ice cubes
A pinch of freshly crushed pepper
Fresh mint sprigs
Method
1. Put the pineapple, mint, vodka, lime juice, sugar syrup and pepper in the blender.
2. Throw in the ice and whiz away.
3. Scoop out in a pre-chilled martini glass and garnish with a sprig of mint.
Citrus Martini
Ingredients
100 ml orange juice
30 ml vodka
10 ml sugar syrup
I lemon
4 ice cubes
Method
1. Take all the ingredients and stir well.
2. Squeeze in a lemon and add ice cubes,
3. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
Banana Martini
Ingredients
20 ml crme banana liqueur
20 ml vodka
20 ml peach liqueur
4 ice cubes
Method
1. Stir all the ingredients and ice cubes and pour the content in a martini glass.
2. Drop a small bubble gum in the glass and serve.
Watermelon Martini
Ingredients
50 ml watermelon juice
30 ml melon liqueur
30 ml vodka
Method
1. Stir all the ingredients and add ice cubes.
2. Garnish with a scoop of melon ball.
3. Serve chilled.
Stirred martinis are ready!
