Two kids in denim jackets sleeping
on the subway, dream away the
empty spaces, vacant faces,
people, places they once knew.
A tree can make a fine umbrella
especially when the rain is falling
clouds are crawling, merging skies turn grey
and shadows stretch into the day
While we all waste away.
Tell me is your spirit broken?
Doors are closed, no arms wide open,
or tears to share 'cause no one cares.
No home to go home to.
Tell me do you feel so helpless?
Sitting on the corner with the
busker and his fist of dimes,
who dreams of being king.
While we all waste away.
Sometimes you have to make a penny,
but don't trade happiness for many.
Heavy changes, life unstable
never knowing what to do.
What's the price to find yourself?
The cost to be somebody else?
Just dream away the people, places
empty spaces, vacant faces
you wished you never knew.
and we'll all waste away.
