Has the TV show "Lost" lost its direction?

Each episode either brings up more baffling story lines or brings up new ideas which seem to never get answered. I don't know what to call lost...a drama? A sci-fi drama? Tales from the unexpected or tales to baffle us?

It had potential at the beginning and I liked the idea of a plane crashing where survivors try and get home but lost has become much more than this. It seems this island is suddenly full of people, and people who have created a community. Now come on if they can build houses; have cars; have radios surely they can get off the island too without any problems?

In the first series they brought us this unknown thing that stomped around the forest. Then they left us in limbo, didn't tell us what it was and worst of all it left the story for ages.

They needed to bring the others in as I suppose they would've run out of story for the rest of the cast, but it has really become silly now. They are fighting each other; killing each and Danielle has a child from Ben?

Finding the underground hideaway was a classic, or as they call it "The Hatch". This is an island and now they have a relatively well equipped underground station with electronic equipment and food? Too bizarre for words.

The strangest storyline to date is when Desmond looses his mind in the helicopter. One moment he's looking at Penny in the photo hoping they will be back together, and the next he has no idea where he is and who these people are with him. Then to get back he has to solve it in the future. Remember how he got to the island too! He rowed there!

The strange thing is lost is still as popular as ever. People love this show! OK It is well acted and the dialogue is well written, but there have been so many shows that have flopped that in my eyes have had an excellent formula. These factors do not guarantee anything. I do think it's survived because it has soap elements in it. Soaps seem to be the most popular formula for Television.

I watched it as I really liked the Charlie character, but now he's gone and the story is getting sillier. How do they write this stuff? I think I know why the story is so weird; it is because the writers are not human. Nope. They are all in fact aliens from a planet we have yet to discover, and they don't really know how humans interact. So one says "What about we have a monster that is invisible, they have that kind of thing here don't they?" The other answers "Of course they had a really nasty monster a few years ago...something about Blair Witch I think." So they all chuckle and think what a great idea it is.

Unfortunately the next day one comes in still a little drunk from the night before and he suggests "Why don't we get Locke to demand that Ben improve the island!" The other aliens
think it's one of the best storylines ever! Unfortunately the other aliens didn't hear him properly and thought he said "Get Locke to have to move the island."
