When one registers to be a presidential candidate it also follows that the individual is fully prepared to have criminal record checked. One is also expected to disclose a full CV.A presidential candidate in all sincerity is a public figure.I strongly subscribe to the view that a presidential candidate should pass a health check record.It is in the interest of the public ton know the health status of their would be president.
The voters have a mandate to know if Barack Obama or John McCain have no chronic diseases which might hinder their perfomances in future as servants of the nation.Its not proper for everyone to read the notes of their health records,they have the right to privacy as well. The point I am trying to fly home is that a certain commitee can have access to the health record,then they can assure the nation that the presidential candidates are all clear from chronic health problems.
It is in the interest of protecting government funds for candidates to declare themselves fit for purpose by dancing to the tune of transparency and declaring their health records.It dispels doubts and goes a milestone in cementing a working bond between the aspiring candidates and voters.
It is a time bomb to elect an ailing presidential candidate the effects are detrimental to the economy and the global village at large.An ailing elected president can not make sensible decisions like,is it justified or not to send troops to Iraq and Afghanistan?It needs a sound frame of mind to take those decisions.It is a mockery to demorcracy if prsidential candidates plays hide and seek with their health records.
In my view it should be a requirement rather than a persuasion.Running a country is different from running a village.In running a village delegation can bail out the ailing village chief but running a country requires a physically fit and mentally intact president.
If the presidential candidate is elected without disclosing the health record and runs the country by delagation due to illness one day from his overseas treatment trips, might find himself/herself overthrown by the army general who would have fallen in love with the ailing president,s coveted position.Critcal judgement and decisiveness is one of the characteristics of a president.One can not sail through if he/she is on and off from a chronic illness.it would be unjust to the tax payer,s money which end up financing the ailing president,s trips for treatment abroad.
An ailing president is usually stressed and is always in and out of office. A presidential candidate should not take chance with his health record disclosure. Its either the records are disclosed to the public or should dont dare compete for presidence. Running a country "ties the knot" with a health president.If one is not interested in disclosing health record then one must stay away from the presidential race.
