Poetry: Apologies

YOU SAY

Apologies hang
like leaves on summer trees

you say,

they only stay a little while
the autumn comes
and away they go
forgotten
under the winter snow

you say,

sometimes they fall like rain
when the f*k ups keep rolling
but dry up
as soon as the sun is showing

I say,

my apologies
fine sir,
I don't agree with you

the little things
should be let go
but the big ones should always
matter more

I say,

its like a rainbow
after a down pour
bringing light and happiness again
wiping away the sin

I say,

fine sir,
the follow through is important
apologies should go both ways
they should wipe away the hurt
and the sinner
be forgiven

say...

none of that matters
if the apologies
aren't shared with both parties
