Do you know a new or first time father? If so you may be stuck trying to figure out what would be the perfect gift for Father's Day for him. That's not to say that gifts are necessary to make this dad on your list happy, he's probably still floating on cloud nine and only needs some small recognition. Maybe you could invite the new father and his family over for dinner to give them a night off. You could always give him a small gift of cash, money comes in handy when you're a new dad, it's probably one of the most thoughtful things you could give at this time. If you don't think cash is appropriate, or a gift card or even a gas card, then check out these cool gifts for first time fathers. I've chosen a variety from the internet and they are only ideas, you may be able to find these items for less in the stores, especially at the last minute.

A manly diaper bag.
Redenvelope.com offers one of the nicest dad diaper bags I've seen. It comes in black, gray, navy and camouflage in a couple of different styles. It looks like a messenger bag and has an across the chest design. There is a large inside zippered compartment to hold diapers and a changing pad. Outside it features a cell phone pocket, two key clips, and exterior pockets for bibs, bottles, wipes and more. This gift will be really appreciated by the first time father who has been toting a pink and blue flowered diaper bag. At red envelope it sells for $52.

Men's digital photo wallet.
Another favorite of mine is a men's wallet equipped with a digital photo album. It's from Brookstone; it's leather and comes with a removable digital photo album that holds 55 photos of the dad's new family. Findgift.com sells it for $29.99.

Cool Daddy T-shirt.
All dad's are cool, but none more so than the new,first time, proud as a peacock daddy. The Cool Daddy T-shirt can be found at bamababiesandbirthdays.com and is on sale for $17.99. The "Cool Daddy" log has a sporty look and is something any dad would love to wear. Nice "Dad" t-shirts can be found all over the internet from $10 and up, some even can be personalized.

Movie, Theater or Concert Tickets.
Perhaps the most thoughtful gift, after cold hard cash, for a first time father would be a date with the new mom. This is easy to accomplish. Purchase or make a card, then go online and movie, theater or concert tickets for two and include them in the envelope. If you like, you can add a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant. If you're feeling particularly generous you can even offer to babysit. Rest assured that a night out on the town doing something fun will be very appreciated by both first time parents.

Father's Day Gift Basket.
Last on my first time father gift list is a Father's Day Gift Basket, but it's an idea I like very much. First of all it's a gift that can be customized differently for any dad. Also, you can make a gift basket according to your budget, whether that be $10 or $200. Candy, mug, t-shirt, book, beer, wine, just about anything can be added to a gift basket for the first time father. I found one on the internet at babybasket.com that is a little pricey, $69.95, but has some neat things in it. It's called their New Dad Basket and comes with California's BV Coastal Estates Merlot, cheese, crackers, Virginia roasted peanuts and bittersweet chocolate truffles. Also inside the brown wood bushel basket with leather handles is a leather and burlap picture frame, a book honoring the new dad with inspirational quotes and a musical cd with songs just for him.

Becoming a father for the first time is a huge adjustment. Making an effort to honor the new dad in your life may or may not ease the adjustment period, but it will surely be appreciated.
