A few months ago, there was a black male who robbed a Japanese restaurant and shot dead the owner. The surveillance video captured everything. When watching the video, how difficult it is for one to escape the inclination towards reinforcing the stereotype of a black person as violent, unlawful, and dangerous. And with no doubt, any respectful African-American would cry out, "Unfair,". And it is. So, what does this teach us? Apart from improving the security of public areas, we can clearly see what the issue here is. One man can do a lot of damage to the image of his or her race in the presence of people of other races. And under any true justice, assuming a negative stereotype of a person due to their race before observing any valid evidence or traits is not right. Likewise, if this "we" represents white people, then "Unfair" I would cry out even as a non-white descendent.
By and large in history, any great nation with great powers would do wrong to others. And yes, it is true that white people have done many atrocities in the past, but is it fair to impose revenge on their descendents? Is it not true that the honorable Abraham Lincoln was also white? Did not whites fight in the Civil War for the Union government against the Confederate which was pro-slavery? Did all whites own slaves? How about the whites that immigrated to this land after slavery was abolished? Do you know how many people died in the Civil War for this cause? Approximately 600,000 males died in the war. Was their blood not enough to satisfy any black man's anger toward a white person who is not racist?
In the past, many African slaves have suffered tremendously. They had no rights, no possessions. And basically they were treated as animals. We, everyone in this country, should be compassionate in regard to their sufferings. And teach the history accurately, so that no such horror will never be repeated. Sadly, though segregation was announced illegal before, it still exists to an extent. But it is of absolute importance to understand that God will judge all men equal, and do not think for one moment that ,just because your ancestors were slaves to whites, your evils towards them are justified. And for those who try, with their evil hearts, to discredit the Christian religion by associating Christianity with Slavery, I would ask them: Was Martin Luther King not a Christian? Was Abraham Lincoln not a Christian? Who were the first ones to expose the evil in slavery in the history of this nation? Were they not those who fear God more than the mainstream society at the time? An evolutionist would have just let "nature" run its course.
Therefore, after all has been said, it is of common foolishness to associate whites to slave owners, and regard all contemporary blacks as peaceful victims of slavery. And of course, an apology is needed, not just to those who had lived their lives as slaves, but to mankind.
