How To Get Rid Of Black Mold Naturally

Use Vinegar, Lemon Juice, Borax Or Essential Oils To Kill Mold

Why use toxic chemicals when you can use natural ingredients safely to green clean away mold?

If you have black mold on surfaces in your home, you can use common ingredients that you may already have in your cupboards. There is no need to use expensive and toxic chemicals in your home to get rid of mold. You will find that making your own green clean recipes for is an inexpensive and safe way to get rid of mold.

The following natural recipes for getting rid of mold will be successful if you follow the instructions to wait for the odor to go away or for the mixture to dry completely before you wipe and clean the area afterwards.

The Vinegar Zap

This is the least expensive method for getting rid of black mold. All you need to do is add undiluted vinegar to a spray bottle. Saturate the mold with the spray. Beware the vinegar smell is strong. In about 15 - 20 minutes, the vinegar smell will be gone. When it is gone, wipe, and clean the area.

The Lemon Juice And Borax Paste

Borax is a natural mineral that is a harsh cleaner. Read the manufacturer's instructions. Mix lemon juice and the borax together until the mixture has a paste-like texture. Use rubber gloves when you use this paste. Apply to the mold and let dry for a few hours. Clean the residue away.

Tea Tree Formula

Tea tree essential oil is used in this recipe. Add 1/2 teaspoon of tea tree essential oil to 2 cups water in a spray bottle. Shake. Spray until you have saturated the mold. When the odor goes away, wipe, and clean the area.

Citrus Seed Formula

Citrus Seed essential oil is another effective mold killer. Add 2 cups water to a spray bottle and then mix in 20 drops citrus seed essential oil. After the pleasant scent is gone, wipe away.

Grapefruit Seed Formula

The third essential oil that is effective against mold is grapefruit. All you need is 1/2 to 1 teaspoon grapefruit essential oil to 4 cups of water. Add this mixture to a spray bottle. Saturate the mold and wipe away, when the scent disappears.

Do A Spot Test

Although, vinegar is safe on many surfaces, white vinegar can bleach surfaces and dark vinegars can stain surfaces. Lemon juice can also whiten surfaces. Do a spot check before using these formulas on any surface that you think could be lightened or stained by the vinegar or lemon juice. Use a spot check with the essential oils, as necessary.

You can get rid of mold naturally with having to resort to toxic or synthetic mold cleaners. Using natural mold cleaners will reduce your exposure the toxins and synthetic ingredients contained in many brand name cleaners. You can get rid of mold effectively when you green clean it away.
