On June 14, the country's proud, will gather to celebrate the adoption of the United States flag. This flag represents the country's freedoms and personal liberties. In a world filled with so much animosity and control, this means a great deal. Below are eight poems that reflect the thoughts of a proud American, especially on Flag Day. May they inspire and touch the hearts of those reading them.
- My Flag -
Each day I look up at you,
I pray for those who knew,
Just what they were fulfilling,
For what we now can do.
I place my hand upon my chest,
My pledge I proudly say,
I whisper out a thank you,
And celebrate Flag Day.
- Happy Birthday "Old Glory" -
Happy Birthday "Old Glory",
Your meaning is quite grand.
Happy Birthday "Old Glory",
When raised, I proudly stand.
Happy Birthday "Old Glory",
From slavery, we've all been freed.
Happy Birthday "Old Glory",
Like The Constitution guaranteed.
- June Fourteen -
(Sung to the tune of "My Country Tis of Thee")
June fourteen now let me see,
What does Flag Day mean to me, well really we?
Birthday of that big old day.
The special time when they did say,
Celebrate our flag today,
And wave it proud.
- A Flag Day Haiku
Red, white and blue flag.
Blowing in the wind so crisp
Flag Day says freedom.
- The US Flag -
Year 1777 was the adoption of The United States flag.
With 13 stripes of red and white,
And 50 stars of blue,
It celebrates our country,
And our freedom too.
- Cheer for Flag Day -
I hear the school flag flapping,
So sturdy and so strong,
The adoption of our flag we cheer,
And then we sing our song.
June 14, it is the day,
We celebrate so dear,
It is a special US day,
That happens every year.
- This is Flag Day -
Tender hearts
Holding hands
Inspiring
Soldiers
Instinct ive right
Sweet land
Freedom by forefathers
Liberty for all
Always waving proudly
Gentlemen and ladies died for us.
Diligence is key
Applause and amber waves
Yelling honor and praise.
- Flag Day Wisdom -
I smell the hotdogs cooking,
And hear the burgers grill.
I see the U.S. colors,
Waving on a hill.
Grandpa tells a story,
Of heroes from his past.
And why we cheer for Flag Day,
And why he hopes it lasts.
"You see my darling grandson,
Our freedom was not free,
So many died and lost their lives,
So you could climb that tree.
Each color is important,
The red, the white, the blue,
Of that you must remember,
Just what I've said to you."
