Perhaps the interesting phenomenon called the human condition should be handled with velvet gloves and defined in terms other than what is observed on a daily basis. We collectively watch the daily news and willingly or not, our minds participate in events that are surreal. Our reactions are often those of detachment and disbelief, and with good reason. Humanity is often observed committing yet another atrocity in an endless journey of horrific acts; humanity is portrayed often as far from humane. We love and protect, but we may also hate and betray. Why?
Is that the actual human condition, or are those mere anomalies in a very long learning curve?
Is it possible the understanding we hold of ourselves should never be entirely equated or correlated to reality? Logically, with the application of wisdom and the exponential growth of knowledge we possess, should we not be capable of doing far better than uncivilized contemporary behaviour demonstrates? The aberration of human nature may be incomprehensible, but it is ever observable and recordable an appears to be unique. Are humans the only sentient species able to analyze it's own behaviour and define it's condition?
One cannot pretend to relate what the human condition is in any terms other than a personal, immediate observation and interpretation of it, for there are too many variables. The slightest influence, even a single ray of sunlight breaking through the clouds on a gray, cloudy day often changes that impression. Even weather changes the behaviour of humans. Reaction is always a result of something prior, even if unobserved and undefined at the time.
One could perhaps then assign some blame arbitrarily to inclement weather, primal remnants of past civilizations blown in on the winds of time, shadows of childhood rejections, spurious stains of shame, the seizing of inappropriate glories, or merely the deep-seated frustration of a universal soul. Expression of a singular human soul, a voice screaming resentment at being born into a pre-selected physical body - might be offered as an excuse. However we perceive the immediate disfavour we find ourselves suffering in, the requirement for personal responsibility cannot be ignored, but must ultimately be welcomed as an essential fragment of universal truth.
The human condition must be eternally defined by, and subject to truth. Within human understanding of truth, at any specific moment in time, truth, with all of it's facts, aspects, and influences within
