What you should know about dyeing your hair

From the very first time you color your hair, you have altered the chemistry of each and every hair strand - you no longer have "virgin" hair. So don't let someone tell you that hair color does not affect your hair. I agree, you should seek the advice and service of a professional licensed cosmetologist instead of using one of those home color kits in the box. The professional colors are developed with the health of your hair in mind and the professional stylist can tell you which shampoo and conditioners are the best to use.

You want to choose a shampoo and conditioner that is specifically for color treated hair. These shampoos and conditioners are designed to condition and protect the chemically treated hair. In my salon, we sell a shampoo and conditioner that works hand in hand with the color product we used on our clients.

There are some people who do not want to spend the money for a professional color service so they used on of those home box kits and many times don't get the desired results. They then proceed to a professional and ask that the color be fixed. Not only will you spend more money for a corrective color service, but your hair will be twice as damaged breakage will for sure eventually happen.

Take my advice as a professional licensed cosmetologist - stay away from the home box color its and have your color service done by a professional stylist - I guarantee you will be much happier with the results.
