What would banning religion in all public places do to those retail stores that special in religion? Hmm.One thinks that somehow it wouldn't be all that great for business!

The above was the first thought that popped into my head when I first saw this debate on Helium.com. It isn't however, the last thought that I have on the subject. Not surprising to those that know my work, I have a vast supply of opinions on various political subjects, religion being one of the foremost.

I am a proud American capitalist, raised a Baptist in the great state of Tennessee, and a woman who prides herself on being unfailingly female in all thoughts and situations. These attributes may be considered faults to many liberal thinkers but I assure you are considered great assets by me.

Religious freedom is one of the greatest things that has made America the land of the free. In these times, I have often wondered if it is one of the only true freedoms we have left, the freedom of speech notwithstanding, of course!

Religious persecution by government, Monarchs, as well as communist leaders was a main factor that led a great many immigrants to America's shores in days of old, and even today as well.

While us as a people have become more and more comfortable with the sensibilities of other international religious views, our own Christianity has taken a great beating here in the one safe haven for Christians of our puritan heritages. Yes, while we embrace the Muslim faith and are loathe to step on their toes during this post-9/11 era, we are shucking our own heritage to the back seat if not out of the car altogether.

Why have Americans continually allowed the Christian faith to put through countless attacks, both verbal and of the legal variety for a number of years? I think we are too embarrassed to stand up for what we truly believe in. Who wants to be a zealot in today's society? Why embarrass ourselves in front of friends and co-workers when it's easier to do nothing? We are morally weak and continue to be so in the face of continued attacks upon our own moral compass, and this is an outrage!

Prayer in school, prayer prior to ball-games, prayer in public restaurants prior to a meal, group activities devoted to Christianity, it is all taboo in today's modern world and the weak just continue to get weaker while the bullies in the minority continue to roll over each and every one of us!

This abuse of the Christian faith has got to stop, and it is up to each and every one of us to aid in the end of it..somehow, some way. Americans need to stand up and do their duty and the best part? You can do it in private; no one will ever have to know you stood up, because this abuse can be halted by simply stepping into a voting booth near you!

What could be simpler? I am imploring all Americans to do what is best for Christianity and for the American way of life by voting the right way in the future.

Now, to get back on topic: Individual owners of stores, banks, commercial buildings etc., should retain the right to do as they please with their own property. Just as every retail store has the right to refuse service to an abusive individual, that same establishment has the right to display whatever they please. It is up to them and to their own businesses detriment (profits) if the public outcry is too great! Who it is not up to is a government bent on alienating all of our rights!

Thank you for your time!
