Poetry: Insomnia

by Steven West

Created on: June 13, 2008

I tried counting sheep,
But I can't fall asleep.

I paced the room at night.
It's no afternoon delight.

My eyes are bloodshot red
As I lay with my eyes wide open in bed.

I think I'll just read a book.
Don't give me that awful look.

Perhaps tomorrow I'll get some rest.
I had better or I'll fly off my nest.
