The average person that has their own carpet scrubber or cleaner will buy the product that goes with that particular item. Such as Bissell, They have steam cleaners, scrubbers and their own products to clean with. Hoover also has this type of set up. I call it a set up because they naturally want you to buy their product over any others.
What many of us do is use whatever is available at a low cost that will do the job well. There in my hall closet sets three different brands of carpet cleaners, natural cleaning products have not yet found their way into the closet, although I have tried some natural vinyl, no wax floor cleaners and some Natural Bathroom cleaners.
RESOLVE for steam machines (in case I rent one) Usually use my Kirby sweeper that doubles as a scrubber with a few minor changes of attachments.
RESOLVE spot and stain remover, great for hit and miss cleaning.
GREAT VALUE foaming carpet cleaner, boasts that it removes tough stains on carpet, rugs and upholstery. (works pretty well actually.)Just spray, rub gently dry and vacuum.
BISSELL multi-allergen with scotchgard for carpets and upholstery. This does a great job and smells very clean when your finished.
Now Bissell and Great Value both have no phosphates. Resolve does not make that statement. Phosphates aide the soap and water in the clean up process but are bad for the environment.
That leads us to Natural cleaning products for your carpets. Natural being a mix of household ingredients with differing amounts per mix. Some examples of these would be:
SALT to get rid of mud.
SALT to get rid of a Red Wine stain.(cover while wet, let dry, vacuum)
CLUB SODA to get rid of coffee stains.
BORAX and WATER PASTE to get rid of a chocolate stain.
CORN STARCH for grease. (make paste, set, scrub and vacuum)
For the overall deep cleaning of your carpet with natural cleaning products, Steam cleaning is one way to go,It is very natural and when the cleaner is washed out completely you can add a bit of mild dish soap to clean with. Dish soaps usually have plant oils in them, thus you are being environmentally friendly, not to mention that you do not have residue left behind from harsh chemicals.
Some Natural Carpet cleaners come in liquid concentrates,Pre sprays and oxygen cleaners. All bio degradable and natural ingredients, such as grapefruit seed, soybean, corn aloe and many more. These leave no skin irritants behind and only a fresh clean feel to the carpet.
There are many organic products available now that you could not find, let's say two years ago,now that they are it is giving you a choice to use Chemicals to clean with or Natural Cleaners to do the job.
How can you be sure that it is an Organic or Natural cleaner? That is a good question and the answer is:
To be sure you are getting a Natural Carpet Cleaning product, read the label completely and check the ingredients listed.
Superior products that are recommended by the Carpet and Rug Institute will have a seal with CRI on it somewhere.
