How many times a day are you thinking about something? I bet that you are constantly thinking. Your mind never stops thinking about something. Our minds are constantly going day and night.
It's our nature to worry or be concerned about future events we have no control over. If you stop and think about all this thinking, what purpose is it serving you at the Present Moment? The answer is no purpose at all because you can not control or predict the outcome of any future events by thinking about it in the Present Moment.
What you cause yourself in the Present Moment of thought is worry and stress. And you know what worry and stress leads to, sickness and health issues. And all this was caused by just thinking.
Now imagine if you did not worry or stress out about future or past events. You would be healthier and be in a better mood and enjoy life more completely. As you can see your thought process, which is more negative than positive, has a bad effect on your health and wellbeing. This is the Power of Thought.
Now imagine, if you can, what kind of person you would be if you lived only in the Present Moment. That is don't be concerned or worried about future events because you can only control what you are doing at the Present Moment. You can not control the outcome of a future event. Your mind may think it can but in reality it can not. Your mind can only control what you are doing NOW. That's living in the Present Moment.
This is not a concept but an actual fact of life. Our minds have to be constantly thinking about something. Try not thinking about something; let me know how long you can stop thinking.
This is what we call our ego and it's constantly at work thinking and making up things.
Our ego is very good in creating things in our mind for us so we always have something to think or worry about. This is why some people have a very hard time trying to meditate because they can not divert their attention away from mind chatter and focus on one thing, NOW.
Imagine if you could quiet your mind, what would happen? What you would experience is inner peace with yourself and an awareness that goes far beyond our experience as human beings.
So the next time you are aware of your mind chatter or you are worried or stressed out, start learning how to breathe correctly. As you start your breathing exercise focus all your attention to you breathing. This will quiet your mind as your mind can only be occupied with on thing at a time. With practice you will start to experience quiet time in your Present Moment. This will be a new Awakening for you that will open the door to new Horizons.
The process I have just outlined above is meditation and when done during the day and evening hours can lead to a new Awareness and inner Peace of living in the Moment.
