How to get rid of bats in your house

Bats in your home can be very dangerous and cause serious medical problems. As soon as you discover you have bats in your home you should take immediate action. Harboring bats can lead to serious medical conditions. Learning how to get rid of bats before attempting the removal is the safest option.

Bats like places that aren't frequently disturbed. Barns, attics, chimneys and basements are great breading grounds for these creatures. The best way to get rid of them is to prevent them. Bats only require a hole that is a half inch in diameter to make entry into your home. A cracked window in the basement or an open slatted vent in your attic is an easy entry for bats.

Since bats carry multiple diseases and can cause serious health problems including death, it's important to get them out as soon as possible. Bats carry rabies, which is very deadly. In addition the rabies the most likely problem with bats is guano. Guano is bat droppings and carries several nasty diseases including Histoplasmosis, which is a fungi, that leads to airborne spores that can make you violently ill or even kill you.

When getting rid of bats, first and foremost, never use a vacuum cleaner as a method of cleaning up. Determine how many bats you have dwelling in your home. Is it just a few, or a few hundred? While anything over a few, should be taken care of by a professional exterminator, you can get a single bat or 2 out of your home. If you have a single bat that has collided with faith and found himself inside your home, then chances are you can remove him yourself. During no point, of the assisted evacuation should you hit or throw anything at the bat. Don't try to catch him with a towel or a sheets as this will make him more excited and not to mention containing him in a sheet or towel could allow him the alloted closeness to bite you.

Simply close all interior doors so that the bat can't get into any other rooms, then open all exterior windows and doors. Turn off all lights and he will fly out with in a matter of minutes. If he is actually roosting inside your home, for instance, your attic, it's best to call an exterminator but, if that's not possible, then wait approximately 30 minutes after dark and check the area. If that bats are gone simply go out and patch the hole in which they have made entry. You don't have to start a construction project at 10 o'clock at night, as a single piece of plastic vinyl or tar paper will work just fine. The reason you wait till just after dark
