One of the major highlights and improvements of outdoor water fountains are those that are solar powered, one example being the Floating Lily Solar Pond Fountain. It is presented in the shape of an ordinary water lily, albiet one that just happens to have a "stem" sticking out of the middle. But no worries, this is no accidental feature added on by the manufacturers-simply the spout out of which the water flows. Other than this, the Floating Lily is ideal for any pond that you would like to keep looking natural even with a fountain present. It is lightweight, capable of resisting harmful UV rays and potentially damaging weather, and of course, powered by the energy of the sun. Naturally, this means that there are no electrical cords or plug-ins to deal with and it relies soley on solar power so that you will also be doing Mother Nature a favor as you lighten up your garden or pond. The price range is typically around $49.00.

If you find that you would rather prefer a more artistic design for your solar fountain, you may choose the Solar Cascade Dual Four Tier Fountain (Terracotta). It stands 22" tall and is constructed from hand-crafted terracotta bowls in a cascading solar powered system.For the exceptionally rainy days, there is an AC adapter available along with the fountain. The only hinderence I feel I must mention is the fact that it comes with a 16-foot cable, though it is low on voltage and recycles the water that it uses.

Unlike the Floating Lily, the Solar Cascading Dual Four Tier Fountain does not blend in with its surroundings in the form of a natural aspect, but it does boast a beautiful design that will compliment any outdoor pond, garden, or patio space. It can also be placed in the home, seeing as how it is portable. Most families set it either in the den or dining area so that the gentle trickling of water gives off an aura of relaxation, but it can work in bedrooms as well (just so long as it is kept away from any electrical devices). The usual price for the fountain ranges around $130.00, but may cost more if you choose to purchase a larger model.

Overall, both solar fountains are well worth their prices and will complement any home in the area of outdoor decor.
