I had been waiting for this movie to arrive for what seemed like an eternity! I was, am and shall always remain a huge fan of the series. This programme saw me through some important chapters of my life and I will always be grateful to 'the girls' for leading me to contemplate the important things in life and teaching me to enjoy being a woman. Does that sound too corny? I'm not saying Sex and the City made me who I am today, but I am saying that it had a little input as I was growing up. Needless to say, there were tears in my house when the final episode was screened! The box sets are beginning to look a little shabby with all the wear and tear they've seen over the years.

The movie:
I avoided all trailers. I avoided all magazines that might have shown me the outfits. I avoided all interviews and programmes about it. Admittedly, I watched Sarah Jessica Parker's interview on Jonathan Ross but I knew that she would never give anything away about the movie. She was fab, btw- as always! Therefore, I had avoided any spoilers about the film. I tried really hard not to build it up too much, but it was inevitable that I would be looking forward to it. I didn't realise just how much I was looking forward to it until I got in to the cinema though.

Trying to get tickets for opening night was pointless, but I managed to get three tickets for the next night- for myself, my mum and a close friend who I had introduced to the programme many years ago. To say that I was impressed by the film would be the understatement of the century. Within the first five minutes, I had laughed and cried- seriously. I think that I was overwhelmed by seeing these characters on screen and the recap at the start, showing all the key elements of the women's lives, was just too much. The memories of how awesome this programme was and how much of a part it played in years of my life came flooding back.

The film certanly did not disappoint. The producers and actors had succeeded in keeping the feel of the series and transferring it on to the big screen. There was always the worry that it simply wouldn't work as a film, but nobody should have doubted it. The characters were just as brilliant as the first time around and the storylines were ever as poignant as before. Again, although the movie was about the four women, it encompassed so many people and points of views and themes, that it really did give you so much to think about. As always.

I cried about eight times, big dolloping tears. I smiled through most of these tears and felt heart-achingly sad during others. I laughed. I laughed so much that my face hurt. And, I smiled. Sex and the City always manages to do that.

I now can't wait for the DVD to come out so that I can watch it over and over again. Hope I don't have to wait too long
