Poetry: Sad endings

by Sarah Dyer 27

Created on: June 11, 2008

You are my drug, made to cure my pain.
But you burn like the sun and depress like the rain.
And I don't really want you to be in my life.
But with or without you nothing seems to go right.
I don't love you, but you've got me addicted.
You've got my trust but don't know what to do wit it.
When I want you here you're never around.
When you are I want you to leave when I'm down.
Will someone please wake me up from this nightmare.
Wake me, tell me why it's so unfair.
Wake me from this frightening trip.
Save us, by kissing this poison from our lips.
Time out, lets take minutes to talk to these kids.
My youth are stereotyped, there are killers out there, but we're not all like this.
C'mon put down the guns for a while and just listen.
Is this how it's always gonna be on our streets in Britain?
Instead of stopping a yoot pass in the street, Stop the unprovoked violence.
Instead of breakin each others backs, break the deadliest silence.
Reverse the hands of time, reverse the pulling of the trigger.
I know as a country we're small but as people we could be bigger.
