Poetry: When it rains

WHEN IT RAINS

I like it when it rains.
'Cause, when it pours,
No one can tell I'm crying.

And, when it thunders,
It drowns out the screams of pain I feel inside.

When lightning fills the black, ominous sky,
my eyes have something to watch...
No longer must they witness my own demise.

I like it when it rains.
'Cause I get to see other people running through the streets,
Having troubles of their own.
It reminds me I'm not doing this on my own.

And when someone is stuck without an umbrella,
It reminds me that it's raining on someone else as well.
That they're suffering a little bit too.
That helps a little bit.

When an ambulance races by, flying through puddles to the scene of an accident,
I remember that someone is suffering a loss too.
That I'm not the only dead one here.

I'm dead inside.
But I like it when it rains.
