Poetry: Christmas worship

by Tom Greenslade

Created on: June 11, 2008

Who is He?

The snow is bright, and children's cries
Ring happy through the air today,
As sleds slide by, and snowballs
fly with thoughts of Christmas on its way.

The pretty trees, the packages,
They dream of treasures on that day,
Almost forget the one who came,
The tiny Babe in manger lay.

Who was that Baby lying there;
Who lay down in a manger poor,
While angels cried aloud His name,
And shepherds rushed to find His door?

Was He a king who'd come to reign?
Was He a humble servant babe?
Was He a man, or was He God?
Who was this little sleeping babe?

The Wisemen came to see a king;
The angels said He'd rule some day;
He'd live a life so very poor,
And wash men's feet: a servant's way;

He'd weary as a man, & lay His head to sleep;
As man He'd suffer, die for me;
As God He'd rule the universe,
And someday He will come for me.

Who is this little babe so small?
Is He just one? No, He is all!
The King, a servant, a man, and God!
