Cash or an iTunes gift card suits almost any teen's idea of a great gift, but other than those, here are some more ideas to help you with gift buying for that special teen while keeping the cost between $50 and $200.
13 15 years of age
During these years shopping with friends (without mom) is usually a favorite pastime and school is their job in life. A mall gift card will allow her to shop at various stores and purchase items such as: a backpack, iPod, computer game, watch, clothes, shoes, hair products and jewelry in the company of her friends. What she chooses will enhance what she already has and give her an opportunity to express her own style.
16 17 years of age
During these years her life adventure away from the family really begins to pick up some speed. Something a bit more independent related may look like: movie passes, Starbucks gift card, pocket-type camera, a style-minded or maintenance related gift for her vehicle.
18 19 years of age
With college on the horizon a gift that will aid in her success away from home will assist her in being prepared. Cash toward books, living expenses, or a round trip fare so she can look forward to coming home during break can help this transition into this next phase of her life go smoother.
A good start when considering a gift for a teen is to pay attention to how they spend their time. Most teens have a knack of exuding, in one way or another, their interests in just about every area of their lives. They might be a tech-savvy type or a socialite among their peers. A reader, a writer, a musician, a dancer, the list goes on. Maybe they just got their first job, or their first car. Items they utilize in these areas of their lives where they spend much of their time can make useful gifts.
Interest related gifts may include:
Computer associated items
Books or a gift card from their favorite bookstore
Journal and pens
Drawing/art related items
Dancewear or new practice shoes
Sportswear or new sport shoes
Concert tickets
Music related items
A magazine subscription featuring an interest of theirs
Specifics are an important part of gift giving with teens. Brands, colors and sizes are all "need to know" factors and teens usually don't mind your asking.
Inspirational gifts are always thoughtful and widely appreciated gifts.
By making some simple observations you can be on your way to the perfect gift, without breaking the bank.
