How to start a bakery or a cookie business

Every business comes with risk and that is no exception with the best business plan you may have. Coupled with creativity and niche, a business can be viable and at the same time, the most concerned factor in business is not about doing well for the time being, but rather the sustainability.

In starting a bakery or a cookie business, the core business objective here is to sell your cakes, bakeries, cookies and what have you. That is probably what most people think. Well, it is a yes and a no in my personal perspective. Well, in order to start off a business like a bakery or a cookie business, what you need is actually careful planning.

What is there to plan when your business is so straight forward?

The reason is clear that if you do not plan, you are planning to failed. This is a very important segment of how to start a business and particularly here in this article, a bakery or a cookie business. The planning will consist of the following considerations:

1. Location.

This is probably the most important aspect in business, especially brick and mortar business like Bakery or a Cookie Store. You need very high human traffic in order to have good business. It is in fact pointless and useless to have a place that is available to you readily which has very low and dense human traffic. The best locations for such eatery businesses are places like Subway Stations, Railway Stations, Bus-stops or even shopping malls.

2. Operation Costs

You have to get this very precisely because anything more than what you need is a waste in business context. Calculate the rental, staff wages, material cost and miscellaneous cost. You need to plan this against the capital that you have in order to sustain your business in bad times and ride along the wave in good times. Try to limit the number of staffs you may have in the everyday running of the store. You would not want your business to end up over-staffed. And it is not advisable to overworked your staffs as well. A delicate aspect to plan, I believed.

3. Baker

Starting a bakery or a cookie business, you of course need the most important person of all, a baker. He or she must be of course up to the standard in order for your cookies or cakes to be sold. Good food will bring your customers back. People can live without sub-standard food. A certain standard has to be maintained in order for your business to work out. If you who started the business is the baker and you are a pretty good one, then you will not have this problem to face.

4. Work-flow
