Stillness in the air;
an eerie silence before the storm.
The clouds above darken,
threaten to burst with every groan of thunder heard.
Shadows move across the grass
and the people in their homes remain uncaring still,
unknowing of the tension until breaks.
Finally the rain comes,
falling to the world below with astonishing force.
Each drop of water rejuvanates us all
opens our eyes to the truth it brings.
Then suddenly,
it's over.
And we go back to our lives,
forgetting the rain that fell until it falls again.

The earth was swallowed
