Poetry: Inspirational

by Danita Jolly

The Guardian

Hell has chased me
Felt the breath on my neck
The weight of the world
I carried on my back.
Immeasurable cruelty
No show of mercy
What is my destiny...
Tell me my fate.
I can't succumb
To all this hate.

I must be swift
No luxury of rest.
All senses on duty
To outlive this test
Whispers in my ear
Comfort my silent prayer
Feel close at hand
The Guardian, that is there.

Blessings bestowed
My heart still loves
Unscathed once more
From Angels above.
