Would I eat Stem Cell Meat to save an animal?
I have to admit I raised a quizzical brow when I saw "Stem Cell Meat". I said to myself "Self, have you been walking around with a bucket on your head for the past four years?". Unbeknownst to me some clever types have come up with a way of producing meat without the beast. My research however raised more questions than I had answers for.
The first thing that crossed my mind was how do I go about answering such a question?
Do I answer it as a member of the human species? As a member of a western culture that breeds animals for food? As an animal lover who will cuddle anything with fur? or as a conscientious adult who needs to look at both sides of the coin before making my decisions? Or do I answer it as a cynic who believes that mankind will never be satisfied until we have destroyed everything that breathes on this earth? So, I have put my thoughts into each of these categories and somewhere in the middle, I was hoping for an answer.
As a member of the human species, I believe I have a place in the food chain like all other creatures and that food chain fits into its own place in the environment as a whole. If I'm in the ocean and a shark eats me, serves me right for not staying close to the shore. It's his supermarket I'm swimming in. If he could work out how to breed his dinner, I'm sure he would.
As a member of a western culture, I think there is far too much food on the shelves than there are mouths to eat it. With all the fish rotting on the shelves and not swimming in the ocean, no wonder that shark was eyeing me up.
As an avid animal lover, I would go down on bended knee and kiss the crooked feet of the person who could come up with an alternative to all animal cruelty and misadventure. When they come up with that, I'll be pushing the little old ladies aside in the queue to get to the front.
As a coin turning adult, I know I need to do what is best for my health. In-vitro Meat, Stem Cell Meat or Clean Meat is almost purely synthetic. Who produces and finances the synthetics that make this apparently wonderful creation? We know that NASA funded some of the initial research, assuming they did it to find out if this product was a satisfactory alternative for their astronauts? However, are we happy to eat a product funded by a company that sent a monkey into space? A company owned by a country with the highest level of consumerism in the world which creates the demand for research on animals and to skin animals alive

From my own vegetarian perspective, I would answer that, no, I would not eat "clean" or "cultured" meat. At the very least,
