Poetry: Angels

by Madison Lang

Created on: June 10, 2008

A stethoscope draped haphazardly around her neck,
A pressed and harshly starched white uniform
A welcome remembrance to those who paved the way
Came before, and will come again and againangels.

No wings adorn her back, the halo replaced
With some odd shaped hat pinned into her tight hair
Her smile, oddly comforting, regardless of the pain,
The illness, the calamity that has become life.

Caring, compassion, and a psychic sixth sense
Exude from the figure at the foot of the bed
She holds a hand, pats a back, and gives a hug
She worms her way into hearts, becoming family.

She cries for those lost, and those saved
She carries the weight of every burden
Of every individual she comes in contact with
She was born for her role, a life fulfilled.
