Hope is the light that leads you on,
A staff of strength to lean upon
The remaining friend who does not fly
The patient waiter standing by
When all Pandora's box had flown
This shining angel stood alone
In certainty of what is right
She waited, then followed after plight
The battlefield she walks undaunted
Never by fear or evil haunted
When we've lost sight, don't understand
This angel bright, is there at hand
If life now gives you cause to grieve
Invite her in, and by your leave
She'll leave a lantern at your door
Weave protection, then and more
Her sisters to your aid she'll bring
Have faith, have trust, invite them in
Friends you never knew you had
Strangers too who once were sad
A creature's touch, a moment's mirth
New beginnings in dream-scented earth
A quiet place to still your soul
Beauty, music, to round the whole
In darkness paths astray may lead us
But manna yet somehow will feed us
Struggle on where hope-shine leads
'Tis pain you drop in heart-drip bleeds
And in the depths of darkest night
The hope-path glitters, starlit, bright
She'll help you up the harsh hill climb
And reward you with the world, sublime
Lost mire-paths through the marsh you'll find
A once cruel place, becoming kind
Cloak your tremors through forest's deep
She'll guide you on to safety's keep
There to rest & gather strength
'Til sometime soon, or at length
You'll feel yourself, restored to being
To run again, on now, not fleeing
Till you find yourself upon the beach
Which you once thought out of reach
That glistening golden sunset shore
Blessed, content, afraid no more
But as you send her on her way
Forget not your thanks to say
For even angels need our aid
And in our gratitude are they paid.
