Apparently, there is no title where this song fits in so, I did the next best thing; I put it under a title that needs a song like this. This is sung to a tune similar to A.B.W.H.'s "Bobby Dread and the Cool Running" portion found in "Order of the Universe" from their self-titled album in 1989.
SLEEP-WALK
The Son of man looks through the flesh to see the hearts of men
and finds there is no place to make His home.
The so-called, "Christian-who's-on-fire-for-Him" appears to be
more cold and damp, as if no change had come.
The sad thing is that many people will eventually find out,
that they've been told a vicious lie;
"Salvation's in this little prayer for you, so say the words you hear,
and you will never ever die."
They say the words and see the bumps of geese come over them,
and claim that they can really feel the Lord.
They never hear the words of Jesus calling out to them,
to seek Him in His everlasting Word.
So many people, sleep-walkin'
They'll tell you anything, cheap talkin'
We have contentment, smooth runnin'
We need commitment, low gunnin'
So put the power where the power belongs,
and bring the people in, both weak and strong.
Let's let them see the righteous down on their knees;
the name of Jesus lifted up above the trees.
Stop the sleep-walk!
Now, true commitment's not a simple thing to come by in this world
that's full of vanity and sin.
You've got to press toward the mark, and hide His Word within your heart
so you can really be for Him.
He said, "If you can not be for me, you're against me." and
for many that's a problem in their life.
I've seen some men that claim to be for Him one day and then,
the next, they've turned and cheated on their wife!
He died for us, let's die for Him and put away the flesh to serve
our loving Savior ever more.
This world will bring you more than pain and death but, with it separation
from the One who would be Lord.
So, when the rubber hits the road and takes you where you think you ought to be,
you stop and take a look around.
And if you see the souls of men lined up to hear about the life-you-lead,
and say that, in Him you have found,
Then praise the Lord and seek His face until He shows you how to give
them what He's given unto you.
He'll send you power to reveal the things that mighty kingdoms fear,
and love that conquers all you may go through!
And as they look to you to see a glimpse of Love and Hope and Faith
that's offered freely unto all,
The true Messiah of the world comes through and touches them,
fulfilling in you, why He chose to call.
So many people, sleep-walkin'
They'll tell you anything, cheap talkin'
We have contentment, smooth runnin'
We need commitment, low gunnin'
So put the power where the power belongs,
and bring the people in, both weak and strong.
Let's let them see the righteous down on their knees;
the name of Jesus lifted up above the trees.
Stop the sleep-walk!
