Poetry: Help me

by Sandra Lynn

Created on: June 10, 2008

You can help now,
As the flood,
Rushes in...
through the murky depths.

Dismal, darkened, decay.
So long lay dormant,
Undisturbed memories,
Perpetual malcontent.

Patriarchal,
Hot breath,
Blowing foul,
Across my neck.

Slick fingers,
Groping,
Greedily,
Acids churning.

Sickened...
To the core,
Slamming shut,
The nursery door.

Hate quickens my heart,
Blood pulsing with fear,
Child so alone,
Guilt-ridden tainted years.

Desperate hopelessness,
Yet...
This silence,
I cannot betray.

Is there no one,
Who can help me,
Escape this nightmare,
Life had gave?

Sorrow washes,
Anguish,
Flooding through,
The gates.

Once held fast,
Iron shut,
Now broken,
Twisted,

Lay waste to,
Unspoken spite,
Unyielding disgust,
Silent oppression
All the unjust.

No more past,
Buried in shame,
Help me unbind
These old broken chains.
