Moisture in the skin, elasticity, and a firm, sculptured look are achievable at most any age. Beauty radiates from within and our skin is but a reflection of our health and dietary practices.
First, be sure your skin is clean. No matter what age you are, clean skin is the foundation of skin care. Begin by wetting a washcloth. Use moist, warm water. Soak the cloth in the warm water for a few minutes and apply to the face. Allow the cloth to sit on your face until it begins to cool. Make 3 of these applications. This will loosen up the oils and dirt in the skin. Next use a facial scrub that will help your skin shed any toxins, or oil build-up. Scrub gently, and then rinse with warm water. Next apply a tonic to the skin. A mild lemon juice tonic is great. Rinse and then apply a gentle moisturizer.
As we grow older, our skin loses its moisture. Therefore, we must drink enough water to compensate for the loss. Be sure to get at least 6-8 glasses of water in your system for your health's sake. Room temperature water is good because it will not shock your senses. If you have ever gulped down ice cold water, there is a sensation akin to a mild jolt. We get over it because we are thirsty, but ordinary drinking of room temperature water will alleviate this.
Do not keep your skin overly exposed to the sun's rays. If you work outside, wear a sun hat or shield. If you are tanning or just outside on a hot day, make sure your skin is protected with a proper suntanning screen. Observe your skin and notice any places where it looks burned or too dry.
Your skin may be kept beautiful, even in your older age, if you eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit. Try a few almonds or walnuts also. They provide minerals and nutritious oils for the skin. At times apply a little olive oil or coconut oil to your skin and see how it adds luster and glow to you. Experiment with natural products for the skin and find one that will fit you. A good rule of thumb is: If there are too many ingredients in the product, it is not natural. The fewer the ingredients, most likely the more natural it is. Cost is not always a factor. Some cheaper products do just as well as the more expensive brands. Just read the labels, and compare.
Last of all, keep your skin massaged. If you are able to afford a massage at least once a week, treat yourself to one. If not, rub your arms, legs, face and hands gently bringing blood to the surface. Your skin, one of your most valuable treasures ever, will radiate with health and happiness if you can remember these few simple procedures.
