Straight On Over Dear !

'So, how much farther is this place?'
I quickly close my lipstick-case.
I do so hope he hasn't guessed -
I haven't got the foggiest!
There shouldn't be a crossroads here,
'Just carry on straight over dear'.
I know it was page two four two
but now I haven't got a clue!
We passed that shoe shop - so divine,
perhaps that's where I missed the sign
and then that woman - what a sight!
I tell him,'take the next turn right'.
'Oh look, there's dear old Mrs Trapp!'
Fiddlesticks, now I've dropped the map!
I'm sure we passed that house before -
perhaps we're on page two four four?
Oh yes, thank God, now I can see
and it's only quarter to three.
'Don't worry now, we're almost there',
I read the map - avoid his glare.
'We'll still arrive before the bride'
- at least I won't have lost my pride!
