Deep Longings
I no longer crave redemption
do not ask me why,
my heart shuns salvation
and for peace I will no longer cry.
My eyes have dried up
my cisterns no longer flow,
I have lowered my standards
and will go wherever the wind blows.
Folly sits loftily
pride wears a royal crown,
I cannot be bothered with stark honesty
wisdom has been brought down.
I no longer preach righteousness
it is simply not in vogue,
immorality is widespread
and considered quite orthodox.
My heart has turned to stone
my conscience is corpse cold,
as hell's cohorts descend in droves
upon an unsuspecting host.
In fervent prayer I no longer anguish
the luke warm will have to do,
I gladly join the mass of strange Christians
and dumbly offer empty service too.
I watch unaffected
as sin abounds here,
I do not care, I have immunized myself
my conscience is completely seared.
I no longer practice acts of mercy
the Samaritan belongs only in the story,
I live in vulgar luxury
and unashamedly bask in my earthly glory.
But the inner part of me
longs to see a change,
the inward man hopes for a revival
so I ask these questions again and again.
When will justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like a mighty stream?
When will the rich and poor alike,
rest peaceably, even in their dreams?

HIS EYES
Eyes looked upon Me as I walked my own way,
Refusing to yield, so intently He prayed.
Touch now his heart a voice
by Robert Conn
Rain-soaked asphalt glistens by the light of empty promises
Quiet streets disrupted by a single passing car
Deep inside
The author of my salvation
The lifeguard's saving rope
The answer to every question
The source of all our hope
Is all in
I walked in the valley of my life, afraid and unsure,
As gray skies covered me from direction to direction,
And black mountains
