Poetry: Barack Obama

by Jen Hudson

Created on: June 09, 2008

Inspiring,
You shook my hand,
and I believed.
Because I want to believe,
that someone
maybe you
can change this world.
Friends who have been
killed
by war
by guns
violence.
Children whose only meals come from the school cafeteria,
and summer brings
Hunger.
Teachers working two jobs and still living
paycheck to paycheck
with piles of
student loans and bills.
You stand for change
You shout "Yes we can,"
as I say
Thank you, Senator
from the teachers,
the women,
the people who are fed up.
Please deliver.
Make a difference
if you can.
