What dad doesn't love a gift his children made for him? No matter their ages or abilities, these gifts are treasured by their fathers. With a little help or no help at all, there are several options for homemade crafts children will enjoy creating for their dads, granddads, even a special uncle or other father figure in their lives. Here a few suggestions of fun Father's Day crafts children can make:
A sturdy cardboard box can easily be transformed into a "memory box" for dad on Father's Day. Paint, crayons, glitter, ribbon, macaroni and all sorts of other things can be used to decorate the outside of the box. Inside, the children can add additional artwork, photographs, hand and footprints, and poems and stories they have written. Each year, more memories can be added. Each time the memory box is opened, Dad will find treasures from Father's Day past as well as from the current Father's Day being celebrated. This can serve as a gage to see how the children he loves are growing and changing. As time goes by and the memory box starts to look a little shabby, buy a strong box or lock box to keep it in.
"Wax Paper Creations" are an excellent craft to give dad on Father's Day. Depending on the ages of the children, an adult may need to help. Shave broken and/or small crayons and put between two pieces of wax paper. Using an iron on the lowest setting, carefully iron over the wax paper. You may want to put a cloth between the iron and the wax paper. Continue to do this until all the crayon shavings are melted. The wax paper creations can be cut into different shapes. Girls may want to make flowers and boys may prefer cars. Whatever they decide on will be loved by Dad. You can even write a note, poem or story on white or colored construction paper (using a magic marker)and place this between the pieces of wax paper with the crayon shavings surrounding it. These creations can be framed or left as is for Dad to enjoy all year round.
"Coupon Booklets" are an easy craft for children to make. Construction paper, crayons or markers, scissors, hole punch and yarn is all that is needed. Have the children write out what they would like to do for their dad on them. Take out the garbage, breakfast in bed, a day without complaining, help with yard work, etc. are a few ideas. Once the coupons is filled out, have them decorate the coupons any way they see fit. Use the hole punch to make holes on the sides of the coupons. Then use the yarn to tie them together. Be sure not to add
