As America decides who they want to support and vote for in this election, one thing is perfectly clear. We do not have any idea who we want to run our country. Even with all of the publicity that Obama is getting, he is not even 5 points ahead of McCain. McCain being the Republican's choice, and the Republicans being considered the party we want to change from, Obama should be well over 10 points ahead of McCain.
We could say that there are many reasons for that, but I am willing to go with this one. We (as a country) are not excited about anybody. As I listen to the policies both candidates want to do, I fear that neither one of them will put us in the right direction. When we hear them talk about change, I am all for change, but how about change from what we have been doing.
Currently oil prices are going through the roof, immigration is still a major problem, and our leaders cannot agree on anything except that we should spend more money on their pet projects. With all of this, I must ask why are we voting Republican or Democrat again?
I know we are a two party system, but what good is that doing us? Can you think of any policy that either party is offering that will do anything to make positive change in this country? Personally I would like to see neither presidential candidate win, nor any returning members to the congress or senate. This is the only way to get any positive change in our country.
Recent polling data suggest that we as a country want to start drilling for oil in our country again (in fact I would put an oil well in my back yard if I could). Do you think Obama or McCain will sign off on such a bill? And the congress and the senate, they will not even think about doing that. They are to busy trying to get every person who came in to this country illegally, legal.
All of you who out there who are supporting Obama because of his message of change, does his message (at the end of the day) not sound as though it is nothing but more of the same? What real difference is there between McCain and Obama? The arguments that these two gentlemen have between each other, is more about who can out do the other in making policies that neither one will really be able to do with out putting our country more in debt, and insuring that this country will never be energy independent again. Is this really the change that we want as Americans?
Are these two gentlemen the best our country has to offer in leadership? They say Bush's approval numbers are the lowest of any president in history and the senate and congress' numbers are even lower than his. So what do we do? We find two senators and run them for the presidency. I ask you is this change?
For me the choice is very clear, unless we wake up as a country and start looking for candidates who are more concerned about really listening to we the people' we will never get the results we are looking for. Which is real change.
