How to avoid online business scams

to let you know if they've gotten scammed by a company. It even lists addresses and phone numbers of the company. Of course a company may not always be listed here, especially if it's too "new", but it's a great place to check.

Other excellent places to check are old standbys, the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission. You can find reports about companies to help in your determination of whether a company is real or not.

Another important aid is the search engine. Follow any links that pop up for a company and see where they take you. Some links may actually lead you to some of the sites listed above. These tips are good for investigating companies, and not freelance jobs or posts by individuals. And although no one way is fool proof, a combination of these methods have turned out to be very helpful and informative to me, and I've had the added bonus of meeting some great people and new friends along the way.

So please continue to use caution, and sometimes that good 'ole sixth sense about work at home jobs. Of course that main rule still stands, "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!"
