I gaze at those around me with envy
Happy, successful without a care
Not hearing the private war
Within myself, the fight, the dare
Can't they hear the screaming
Of those who are lost and those who are dying
So loud, my soul aches
I can't turn my back without fighting
The line's were crossed long ago
Everyone I trusted, gone from sight
Where do I turn, to whom do I ask
Whether it's wrong or whether it's right
So many look at me in horror
Though I am a soldier, here to protect
I have left behind my faith and beliefs
Just to find so many regrets
I want to ease the suffering and answer their prayers
But I feel only emptiness at the end of the day
And I am made to feel selfish for asking
When is it my time to pray
Through all my confusion I will continue to give
For those who are innocent and those who cannot fight
I close my eyes and let the emptiness subside
I let go the internal struggle and keep freedom in sight
Remember we are all human
We make so many mistakes
I dream of one day banding together
If not for us then for all of our childrens sakes
Let go of our prejudice, our hate
I don't want to see more men dying, far away and so alone
The sooner peace comes
The sooner we all come home
